Volunteer with us
Conservative Party activists walk thousands of steps for us in all weathers, deliver hundreds of thousands of leaflets and hold key persuasion conversations with voters.
Why? Because the Conservatives offer a future after Brexit where we move on to focus on our priorities – which are also your priorities.
We need people like you to help elect Conservatives up and down the country. The best way that you can get involved is through campaigning with your local Association and Conservative team.
Get involved and start volunteering. Below is more information about the tasks that you can get involved with.
Getting Started with Volunteering
Don't know where to get started with volunteering for the Conservative Party? Check out the information below.
What is Canvassing?
The purpose of canvassing is to represent our Party on the doorstep and to engage in positive and friendly discussions with residents to collect data. At a canvassing session the group organiser will give you a briefing about our candidate, local issues and the objectives.
The organiser will tell you which doors to knock on based on the information from the canvassing board. After your door-step discussion with the resident, you will need to report back to the organiser so the information can be logged.
What is leafleting?
Keeping in touch with residents via literature helps to build up the local Conservative brand and raises the profile of our candidates.
Officers will work with candidates to design and write our literature. Once printed, they will bundle up the leaflets or newspapers with maps.
The distribution of our leaflets requires volunteers. Supporting your Association by joining the delivery network is a valued method of volunteering.
What is Connect Calling?
Our telephone canvassing is called Connect Calling. This is similar to door-to-door canvassing but instead we telephone the resident. All you need is a computer, telephone and internet connection. Our system will tell you who to call and presents an on-screen script with multiple choice options.
Associations organise Connect Calling and may host a call centre in person or virtually.
Other ways you can get involved
Office Support and Admin Tasks
Associations need help with the inputting of data. This involves uploading the data from our canvassing returns and other sets of information. You should discuss this with the Associations you are engaging with.
There may be other office and admin activities, such as bundling leaflets and stuffing envelopes.
Become a Conservative Councillor
This is an extremely rewarding experience. It gives you the opportunity to help your local community and be part of a dedicated team providing key services for your area. Being a councillor is a great way to gain political experience and useful skills in public speaking, debating and problem solving.
New councillors are good news. They mean fresh ideas and fresh enthusiasm, and that will be good for your council.

Become a Member of the Party
Members play an active role in the Party, can attend our annual Conference and receive voting rights in Party elections after 3 months of Membership. Find out more here.
