On Thursday 1st May voters will decide who controls your local services, who picks up your bins and who fixes your roads.

Just look at Labour-run Birmingham. Thousands of tonnes of rubbish have gone uncollected for months. And rats are causing health scares for residents.

Or look at Liberal-Democrat run Rutland, which charges some of the highest council tax in the country.

Conservative councils deliver lower taxes and better services than their Liberal Democrat and Labour-run counterparts.

So on 1st May , don't just hope for a good council, vote for one.
